In detail
One total, your currency
Every subscription is kept in the currency you are actually billed in — 94 are available, from USD and EUR to KZT, VND and NGN. The dashboard, calendar, insights and home-screen widgets all show the same figure, converted into the main currency you picked.
A total that admits gaps
Suby never adds two currencies together without a rate. If a rate is missing, that subscription is left out of the total and the dashboard says so — "1 sub couldn't be converted · JPY", with a Retry — and any figure that involved a conversion shows a ≈ in front of it.
The billed price stays on screen
Each row in the list shows the converted amount on top and the amount you are really charged underneath, in its own currency. Open a subscription and "Convert this price" in the Billing section opens the converter with that price and currency already filled in.
A converter built in
Two amount rows with a swap button between them: type in either one and the other follows. Below sits the rate you are getting — "1 EUR = 1.0832 USD · 3h ago" — a 7-day rate chart, and a share button that renders the rate as an image card.
Rates survive going offline
The last rate table for your main currency is stored on the device, so totals keep converting with no connection. Suby asks its own rates API first and falls back to two public rate sources if that fails; the converter's history chart is cached on device too.
How it works
-
Pick your main currency
Choose it on the "Pick your currency" step during setup, or change it later at Settings → Main currency. The Currencies screen matches on code, name, symbol or country, so typing "switz" brings up CHF marked "matches switzerland". Totals and widgets re-convert as soon as you pick.
-
Add each subscription in its billing currency
On the new subscription screen, tap the Currency row and choose from the same list. The choice is per subscription — a euro plan and a yen plan sit side by side — and you can change it later through Edit.
-
Read the total on the dashboard
The header shows your total in your main currency, prefixed with ≈ whenever a conversion was involved. If a subscription could not be converted, an amber chip names the currencies it skipped and offers Retry.
-
Convert a one-off amount
Tap Convert in the dashboard quick actions, or "Convert this price" on any subscription. Tap either currency chip to change it, use the swap button to reverse the pair, and switch the chart between 7D, 1M, 3M and 1Y.
Questions
Do I need an account?
No. Choosing currencies, converting totals and the converter all work signed out. Rate lookups go straight to the rate endpoints with no login, and your subscriptions, main currency and recent currencies stay on the device.
Is any of this behind Premium?
The conversion itself is not. Your main currency, per-subscription currencies, converted totals across the app, and the converter with its 7-day rate chart are all free. Premium adds the on-demand rate refresh, the LIVE freshness badge, and the 1M, 3M and 1Y chart ranges, which show a lock. On the free tier rates refresh once the cached copy is about a day old; opening the converter with Premium also refreshes automatically if the rates are more than 30 minutes old.
What happens offline?
Nothing breaks. The last downloaded rate table is read from the device and totals still convert, marked as approximate. If a currency has no cached rate at all, that subscription is excluded and flagged rather than quietly added to the sum; if nothing can be converted, the dashboard says "You're offline — total unavailable" and offers Retry.
