What you get
- A renewal reminder three days before each charge by default, or anywhere from one to seven days ahead.
- Each message names the service, the days left and the price: "ChatGPT will renew in 3 days for $20.00".
- Free trials get their own reminder, one day before they end by default, with what you pay after.
- Reminders are free. None of them is a Premium feature.
In detail
Each kind of reminder has its own switch and lead time
In Settings, under Notification settings, Billing reminders, Trial reminders, End reminders and Promo ending are separate rows. Each has a switch and a stepper from 1 to 7 days. The defaults are 3 days for renewals, 1 for trials, 3 for a subscription that is ending and 7 for a promo price ending. Card expiry has a switch only and warns 30, 7 and 1 day before a card expires.
Every message names the price
A renewal comes under the heading "Renews soon": "ChatGPT will renew in 3 days for $20.00". A free trial reads "Your ChatGPT trial ends tomorrow. After that it's $20.00.", so the cost of doing nothing is in the notification itself. A promo ending arrives as "Price change coming", followed by the service, the price it becomes and the date. If you are a member of a shared subscription, the reminder shows your share, not the full charge.
Shared bills remind you too
Once you have a shared subscription, Notification settings gains a Shared section. If you owe a share, Your share is due reminds you a day before it renews by default. If you paid and others owe you, When someone still owes you speaks up three days after the renewal if anyone has not settled up. Shared activity, for joins, payments and changes, has its own switch.
Mute one subscription and leave the rest
Open a subscription and switch off Reminders under Preferences, and only that one goes quiet. Muted subscriptions are listed under Muted & snoozed in Notification settings. Enable notifications, at the top of that screen, switches every reminder off at once.
How reminders reach your phone
Reminders arrive from 9:00 in the morning. On iPhone, Suby schedules them on the phone each time you open it, up to the next 64, and iOS delivers them on their day even if Suby stays closed. On Android, a background check runs roughly every six hours, and Suby shows a warning in Notification settings if the phone has stopped it.
How it works
-
Give the subscription a billing date
Reminders count back from the billing date on each subscription. If it has a free trial or a promo price, add the date that ends too, and those get their own reminders.
-
Open Notification settings
Go to Settings, then Notification settings. Under Payments, open Billing reminders and pick 1 to 7 days. Under Trials & endings, do the same for Trial reminders and End reminders.
-
Allow notifications
Reminders need notifications turned on for Suby. If they are off, the top of Notification settings shows an Allow button.
-
Read it when it arrives
It lands from 9:00 in the morning, with the service, the days left and the price.
Questions
Are reminders free?
Yes. None of the reminder types is a Premium feature, and they cover every subscription you track. Premium covers other things: cloud backup, widget settings, unlimited custom services, the health-score card and the Global reach map in Insights, live rate refresh in the converter, and linking people to more than one shared plan.
Will I get reminders on iPhone if I have not opened Suby?
Only the ones Suby had already scheduled. Each time you open Suby on iPhone it schedules the next reminders on the phone, up to 64, and they arrive from 9:00 on their day even if Suby stays closed. Suby does not check in the background on iPhone, so anything beyond those 64 waits for your next visit.
How do reminders work on Android?
A background check runs roughly every six hours, so reminders arrive without you opening Suby. Some phones pause background work for apps you rarely open. When Suby notices its checks have stopped, Notification settings shows a warning with a shortcut to the phone's settings.
Do I need an account or a connection?
No to both. Renewal, trial, ending and promo reminders are worked out from the subscriptions stored on your phone, and the background check does not need a network.
